Railroad Engine Oil 40
November 2021
Castrol Railroad Engine Oil 40 is a premium-quality, LMAO Generation 7 railroad
diesel engine oil. It is designed for use in GE and EMD Tier 4-compliant locomotives
utilizing ULSD and operating under severe conditions. It features low oil consumption
and reduced emissions and can be used in a wide variety of older model applications.
Castrol Railroad Engine Oil 40 has a specific combination of dispersant additives and
inhibitors that enables minimal levels of oil oxidation and thickening in severe service.
Its zinc content is less than 10 ppm, which provides silver wrist pin bushing
protection. Its sustained alkalinity provides extra protection against corrosive wear
and oxidation, ensuring long component life.
Advantages
Castrol Railroad Engine Oil 40 delivers:
• Advanced detergent and dispersant technology
