Bismarck-Historic City Circle Tour Tour the North aota State Capitol, the syscraper of the prairie, a 19-story building that was built in the 1930's. Next door visit North aota Heritage Center, where you can explore Plains Indian history along with North aota's past with an extensive exhibit gallery. Include a visit to the former Governors' Mansion, a Victorian-style home built in the 100's. See the historical Cathedral istrict with homes on the National Registry of Historic Places and Camp Hancock, which was built to house railroad workers while constructing a bridge connecting east and west. Mandan - Where the West Begins Relive the military history of the 100's at ort Abraham Lincoln State Par. It was from this fort that the 7th Cavalry, under the leadership of General George Armstrong Custer, rode out on the ill-fated campaign at the Little Bighorn. Visit with Custer's staff as you explore his reconstructed home, the commissary, barracks and granary. Climb the steps to the Fort McKeen Post blockhouses where you will have a tremendous scenic view of the Missouri River valley. Enjoy the excitement as the infantry soldiers and 7th Cavalry relive history. See On-A- Slant Mandan Indian Village with reconstructed earthlodges, once home of the Mandan Indians. The Visitor's Center, loaded with military and Indian artifacts, has a 20-minute video that gives you an historic overview of the area. Prairie Knights Casino and Resort Come and experience this region's best in gaming and entertainment.
