Custom Rigs September 2017 | Overdrive | 51 T he 38th an- nual Walcott Truckers Jamboree drew 72 contestants for its Super Truck Beauty Contest at the Iowa 80 truck stop. Brian Dreher won the Trucker's Choice with a 2016 Peterbilt 389 that had matching graph- ics with a Great Dane trailer. The event included free concerts by trucker Tony Justice, who opened for country music artist Collin Raye. The prior week, Iowa 80 celebrated the 100th anniversary of the 1979 Velie truck, which is part of the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum. The jamboree also included an antique truck display with over 170 vehicles, a Trucker Olympics and more. The event has been held yearly since 1979. Next year's jamboree will be held July 12-14. SHOW TRUCKS SHINE BRIGHT AT WALCOTT BY MATT COLE Mike Manuel's 2015 Peterbilt and 2017 Mac trailer, "One of Many," took home the Best Overall Theme award in the Super Truck Beauty Contest at the Walcott Truckers Jamboree in July. Manuel built the rig for his 23-year-old daughter, Kara, who has autism. Brian Dreher won the Trucker's Choice award with his matching 2016 Peterbilt 389 and 2016 Great Dane trailer. Matt Schleuger's 1993 Kenworth K100E, "Not My Daddy's Money," took home the award for Best Cabover.
