Mileage-based owner- operators and company drivers will earn another 1 cent per mile on every load starting Oct. 1. Also, all drivers with at least one year of tenure at the Texarkana, Arkansas- based refrigerated hauler will receive holiday pay on Thanksgiving and Christmas. All drivers with three years at SRT will be eligible for two weeks of paid vacation starting Jan. 1. AVERITT EXPRESS rolled out several changes to its regional pay package. Drivers who have been with the Cookeville, Tennessee-based less-than-truckload hauler for more than 10 years received a pay increase to 50 cents per mile, and drivers with at least five years saw a raise to 48 cents. Top-out pay for drivers with less than five years is 46 cents. Also, new hires start at 42 cents and reach top-out pay of 46 cents in eight months, while new hires with at least five years of driving experience start at 46 cents. Averitt also increased acces- sorial pay for detention, lay- overs, local deliveries and stops. Little Rock, Arkansas-based MAVERICK TRANSPORTATION now offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for experienced drivers with at least one year of verifi- able over-the-road experience. The bonus is applicable to driving jobs in all of the com- pany's divisions and is paid out in $1,000 increments. The first payment is paid after the first load is delivered, and the sub- sequent payments are given at 30 days, 60 days, 90 days and 120 days after emptying the first load. SRT student drivers will see an increase in weekly wages during training.
