National Catholic Forester 6 FITNESS EXTENDS TO ALL PARTS OF YOUR LIFE, INCLUDING YOUR FINANCES September was Life Insurance Awareness Month – LIAM for short. LIAM is an industry- wide campaign from Life Happens aimed at educating Americans about the importance of life insurance and helping them get the coverage they need. This year's spokesperson for LIAM is professional race car driver and athlete Danica Patrick. She is passionate about staying fit in all aspects of her life, and has a great message for our membership, saying, "As a race car driver and athlete, being fit is important to me. But fitness extends to all parts of your life, including your finances. And when it comes to being financially fit, getting life insurance is key." Just like the many options you have to working out to be physically fit, there are options to make you financially fit through annuity investments and life insurance coverage. NCSF can assist you with this review of financial fitness. BUILD ANNUITY MUSCLE: An NCSF annuity 1 is a great way to invest in your future. For example, a Roth IRA from NCSF is a retirement savings account that allows your money to grow tax-free. A Roth IRA is funded with after-tax dollars, this means you've already paid taxes on the money you put into it. In return for no up-front tax break, your money keeps growing tax-free. When you withdraw funds at retirement, you will pay no taxes, assuming you've owned your Roth for at least five years 2 . FINANCIALLY FIT WITH LIFE INSURANCE: Life insurance can completely be customized to meet your needs – and your ability to pay. Depending on your financial situation, you might need more or less coverage. For example, you can choose a policy that only covers final expenses – such as a funeral. If you have a spouse and/or dependents then enough insurance coverage to protect against a sudden loss of income, or to cover debt or college expenses, is recommended. If you are a caregiver for a parent, sibling, or child with special needs, we recommend a trust with your life insurance coverage. For these examples, and more, NCSF has products to fit your needs.
