A day in the life of
a specification writer
continued from page 56
rest of the page with indecipherable
and tedious architectural and engi-
neering pablum; sprocket, drop-gable,
wingnut.
E. You're still here? Well this is
awkward …
F. Ah … so … can you believe
this weather??
Steve Saucerman is a full-time
commercial construction estima-
tor and project manager for a large
upper-Midwest general contrac-
tor. He is also an established free-
lance writer and author for the
construction industry whose work
spans 20 years and has now been
published over 1,000 times in
industry magazines and periodicals,
including World Fence News. He has
also published two books: "Moving to
Commercial Construction" – available
at www.amazon.com/Moving-Com-
mercial-Construction-Stephen-Sau-
cerman/dp/1572181036 – (Craftsman
Book Company, Carlsbad, Calif.)
and Masonry Estimating – avail-
able at www.masoncontractors.org –
(Masonry Contractors Association of
America). In addition to construction
and writing, Saucerman taught build-
ing construction technology for 11
years at Rock Valley College in Rock-
ford, Ill. He offers speaking and lec-
turing programs on a variety of topics
(call or e-mail for more information).

Pay tribute to those who
have passed in the pages
of World Fence News
It is never a pleasant task, but
World Fence News is honored to re-
member fence industry members who
are no longer with us by publishing
obituaries and memoria in its pages.
Many of the obituaries tell interest-
ing and often inspiring stories about
the lives of the people who helped
shape the modern day fencing indus-
try, and/or helped create it.
In addition to the obituaries pub-
lished throughout the year, Dynamic
Tube & Pipe makes possible the Fenc-
er's Memoriam, a very nice tribute to
fence industry members who have
passed away. It is a formal listing of
these individuals presented in "me-
moriam" style.
In the event of the loss of a loved
one who was involved in the fence in-
dustry, please feel free to submit com-
plete obituary information which will
be published in a timely manner. This
information also will be used to com-
pile the Fencer's Memoriam.
Much obituary information is
available online, and often World
Fence News uses that to form the basis
of an obituary. But rarely do the on-
line obituaries delve into the fencing
career and involvement of the individ-
ual, and that is where as much supple-
mental information from the family
and/or associates is welcome.
Submit obituary information to
WFN managing editor Rick Hen-
derson at editor@worldfencenews.
