There are some familiar names, as well as some new faces and trucks, in the five Best of Show rigs that won hardware in Dallas. Two Best of Show winners from this year's show are repeat winners in the competition. Michael Manuel and his "Autism: One of Many" Peterbilt 389 followed a National Championship showing in 2016 with a Best of Show in the Manuel and his "Autism: One of Many" Peterbilt 389 followed a National Championship showing in 2016 with a Best of Show in the Brad Hartwick of Rosebud, Arkansas, took a 1978 Kenworth W900A and turned it into the "Patriot," an American pride-themed hotrod powered by a 1978 350-hp Cummins Big Cam. The rig's graphics include the American flag, U.S. Constitution and more. The truck was runner-up for Best of Show in the Builders Class category. Mississippi-based Danny Lea bought this 1963 Mack B-75 with the intention of rebuilding it with his grandchildren to "teach them what trucking used to be about." The work took about 18 months, which included rebuilding the engine and removing what Lea said was gallons of Bondo patching before repainting the rusted cab. The rig placed third in the Antique-Bobtail category.
