NORTH COAST WINE INDUSTRY EXPO PREVIEW Wine Industry Network launches conference and trade show n Dec. 5, the Wine Industry Network (WIN) will welcome attendees and exhibitors to the first North Coast Wine Industry Expo, to be held at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, Calif. In addition to panel discussions on sales, mar- keting, production and vineyard operations, the event will include a trade show featuring up to 180 industry suppliers. Conference topics will cover the latest industry trends, and exhibitors will showcase new products and services for the coming year. "There are six or seven large wine industry trade shows around the country, but we realized there wasn't a show that was inclusive of the North Coast wine region," said WIN president George Christie, who recently joined Vineyard & Winery Management as president and CEO. "It seemed a natural fit to offer a show here, where the majority of wineries do business. Christie said he scheduled the show for December because it's typically the slowest time of year for winery and vineyard operations. "The grapes have been harvested, most wines have gone through fer- mentation and tasting rooms are not as busy," he explained. "It's a time when decision- makers plan for the upcoming year."
