4 keymilwaukee.com Welcome... It's time to welcome winter, with lots to enjoy in Milwaukee County. Downtown, Milwaukee's County Parks are aglow with festive holiday lights. Local "hot spots" when temperatures turn chilly include Cathedral Square, Zeidler Union Square and Pere Marquette Park. At Red Arrow Park, families gather to enjoy the outdoor ice rink. Indoor options include theater productions and music concerts, while at the landmark horticultural Domes, the special "Naughty or Nice" Holiday Floral Show draws kids of all ages. And unique shops throughout the county beckon holiday gift-buyers. For the exercise-minded, award-winning county parks offer hiking, biking and, with the arrival of snow, sledding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. No matter what you choose to do in Milwaukee County, we're certain you'll enjoy your time with us. Chris Abele, Milwaukee County Executive Something remarkable is occurring in the center of Milwaukee. Activity, excitement, and noteworthy changes are taking place at a pace that is unprecedented in this city's modern history. Some of the change is obvious. Cranes loom above rising structures. Downtown buildings are sprucing up with colorful signs and artwork. The sidewalks are busier as more people are working, living, and enjoying a night out in downtown. Some change is less obvious as investors are buying real estate and city government is building and improving our infrastructure. And there are strong signs that the trend of more investment and more activity will continue. Northwestern Mutual is not just building two new skyscrapers; they are adding employees and constructing apartments. The Milwaukee Bucks are not just building a new arena; they are planning an exciting new district that adds more retail and entertainment venues. I am optimistic about Milwaukee's future and the increasing opportunities for our residents and our visitors. Tom Barrett, Mayor
