The Trials are returning to the Pettit Center oval for the first time since 1998, and in the wake of widespread criticism of the team's dismal performance at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The 2014 Trials and training were at the high- altitude center in Utah, rather than at sea level in Milwaukee. The Russian speed skating venue was at sea level, as will be the South Korean venue. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the Pettit Center is just south of I-94 at 84th Street, adjacent to the Wisconsin State Fair Park. The Long Track Trials will be from Jan. 2-7, but competitors are expected to continue training at the center until the 2018 games, which run from Feb 9-25. Details of the Trials, including admission fees and an event schedule, are available at thepettit.com/trials.
