National Catholic Forester 6 As members of NCSF, we all know that our membership in the Society is different from most other business relationships. Fraternalism and service Being involved with a fraternal, not-for- profit insurance company encourages members to make time for the outreach and acts of service which are implied by our motto, "Love, Benevolence, and Charity." Living the motto means interacting with others; becoming involved in their lives; noticing the needs of individuals, parishes, and groups with whom we share life. Living the motto also encourages us to do what we can to address those needs. Everyday life here in America includes all sorts of routine household duties as well as the commitments we have to our families and our careers. Consequently, very few people feel that they have any "left over time." Yet, as members of NCSF, we are asked to not only find time but also spend that time in behalf of others – even those who are not necessarily directly connected to our own immediate families and our personal concerns. Every issue of our magazine shows members in action, living out our motto and participating in the works of mercy through various forms of fraternalism and service. board candidates This issue of our magazine introduces members who are ready for a special kind of service to NCSF. They have answered the call for candidates and are ready to stand for election to the Board. They are willing to do their best to direct and strengthen the Society. They are ready to find some of that "left over time" and spend it on behalf of the members as well as members' parishes and communities. Those who are elected to the Board of Directors in April will not only govern the Society but will also continue to fulfill, in an even deeper capacity, its mission of outreach and acts of service which are implied by our motto, "Love, Benevolence, and Charity."
