By far, applying heat to a wheel or tire is at the top of the dangerous things not to do. Wheels on Fire demonstrates the effects of even short term application of heat to a wheel by welding on it while the tire is mounted and aired up. Jack Dutcher defines the problem and walks you through the demonstration by Standards Labs. The most requested Bridgestone Safety Video, Wheels on Fire is perfect for safety briefings on the site, in the shop, or for all tire techs. There are many causes of vehicle and tire fires including lightening, flammable fluid leaks, and human error. Jack Dutcher walks you through many of the dangers and results of tire and vehicle fires. He also discusses what you should do in the event of a fire, from small fire suppression to major response. Typically, all sites have site-specific fire suppression rules, so be sure to ask about their requirements when entering the site. Working on any quarry or mine site is dangerous business. Anytime material is removed from a pit, the deeper you dig, the higher the walls around the loading area and haul roads. There are hard and fast rules regarding high wall safety. In this edition of We Care Safety, Jack Dutcher walks you through many of those rules and demonstrates the danger. Shot on location, this video points out where much of the danger associated with high walls originates. Whether its at the start of an operator's shift or a vehicle survey, safety is the first rule when inspecting any piece of equipment. Jack Dutcher uses a motor grader as the example of how to safely inspect the tires, wheels and other components on equipment. From approaching the equipment and getting the operator's attention, to safely checking tire pressure and tread depth, Jack will show you safe and effective procedures.
