As store shelves fi ll with holiday décor, our holiday shopping lists are getting made and cookie-baking plans are underway, here at BRAVA we're doing some celebrating of our own. As I mentioned last month, we had made a decision on hiring our new editor-in-chief and we're excited to introduce you to Ronnie Garrett, who joined us just in time to be thrown into the fi re by helping at the Madison Women's Expo in late November. Ronnie caught our attention when she wrote in her cover letter: cess of our cover model, Janet Piraino, vice president for advance- ment for the Overture Center Foundation, whose fundraising efforts brought the Overture Center into the black in 2012. Piraino describes how she and her team were able to raise more than $2.4 million by June 30, 2012—three times the amount raised in any single year in Overture Center's history (p. 37). I accomplished this through extreme organization, an adherence to deadlines, and an afternoon chocolate break." She's now in charge of keeping the chocolate jar full! We are excited that Ronnie brings to us a variety of new and in- teresting experiences. Over her 25-year career she's worked as a writer, a daily news reporter, an editor and a photographer. We are excited to see what she comes up with as she combines all of her skills and passions into producing the magazine you know and love. We celebrate another change in the magazine in our newly formed partnership with NBC 15. We're looking forward to working with the talented women at the station—Carleen Wild, Leigh Mills, Amy Carlson and Christine Bellport—as they bring you an inspiring ebrate the season by wearing the hot trend of the season—winter white—to your holiday parties. Goodbye black, hello white! We love this look and hope you're inspired to give it a try yourself (p. 46). To help you ring in the New Year, we list some of the City of Madison's top New Year's events. Choose how you will usher in 2013 by picking from our list of swanky soirées to fun-fi lled fes- tivities for the kids (p. 65). As the ball drops on 2012 and we jump into the New Year, BRAVA celebrates all of the amazing stories we had the pleasure of telling throughout the year and our readers, who inspire us to keep telling them. Happy Holidays, Michelle Reddington Publisher Behind the Scenes at BRAVA: Our brush with a style superstar One of the great benefi ts about working at BRAVA is getting to meet the celebrities who come to town for the Madison Women's Expo. This November our staff was thrilled when we got to shake hands and strike a pose with celebrity stylist Brad Goreski. Not only was he funny and informative (not to mention well dressed, of course) he was incredibly down to earth. Thanks to Brad and all of our other celebrity guests, attendees and exhibitors for making this another great year at the Expo! 8 BRAVA Magazine December 2012
