V1 Golf Cost $9.99 Rating 9/10 V1 Golf application is the #1 paid for golf app in the USA on iOS. It was created off the back of the V1 Golf swing analysis program which has been used by coaches for golf and other sports for over 15 years. The v1 golf app allows you to capture, compare and improve your golf swing on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone. One of the great features of this app is that it includes a library of over 50 different Tour Professionals with over 90 different swings. Many of these swings are available in Hi Speed 300 frames per second (fps) allowing for ultra- slow motion footage which you can used in side-by-side comparison. These do need to be downloaded which can take some time (up to 5-10 Tiger Woods: My Swing Cost $12.99 Rating 7.5/10 mins with some Hi Speed shots) so you’ll need to be in a Wi-Fi area to download. The angles are sometime a little off, so for me as a golf coach they can’t really be used. There are some excellent Hi Speed shots which really highlight some key areas which otherwise can’t be noticed with a standard frame rate. It allows you to record and analyze your own swing and split-screen beside your favorite tour pro. V1 has many drawing tools which are very easy to use such as lines, circles, boxes and free hand in 4 different colors. Once completed you just shake or tap the screen to clear. Other features include flip/mirror, zoom function, ability to overlay swings and landscape or vertical orientation. V1 Golf includes a free personal online locker from V1 and features a suite of drawing tool, videos trim and playback options. Another feature to this app is some of the game improvement video drills, and some tips which are done with images and text - though these are quite basic and are certainly not a reason for purchasing the app. Swings can be quickly emailed to your student or coach with notes making it very user-friendly for instructional purposes. hitting his driver with some great effects, certainly a good wow factor to start. The video quality is excellent offering face-on and down-the-line, allowing you to compare swings against every club in Tiger’s bag, and also against your friends. Like other swing apps it allows you to record your swing and compare it side-by-side with Tiger’s, and includes swing advice from the former world no.1. 14 time major winner Tiger Woods has recently unveiled a mobile application called “Tiger Woods: My Swing” for iPhone and iPad users. The app helps golfers to improve their swing through the video analysis tool and instruction provided by Tiger Woods. The first thing that strikes me about this app is the cool flash intro of Tiger swing In the swing instruction section Tiger presents videos of his iron swing from down- the-line, face-on, putting and set-up, explaining which lines he looks for from these various angles. Also available are videos of Tiger showing what’s in the bag, Tiger’s head cover and the history behind it, and some other short clips of Tiger having fun with the camera crew. The app comes with great video quality of Tiger’s recent swing, even though Tigers current swing is not in great form. There are exclusive updates from Tiger about his life on tour, and he has strong voice presence in the app. After all the smoke and mirrors I feel the best feature of this app is the quality videos of Tigers swing from wedge through to driver from face-on and down-the-line angles. The drawing tools are not quite as user friendly as the V1 Golf app with not as many drawing tool options and colors. Continued over page >> MAY 2011 GOLF INFUZION MAGAZINE 37
