Rory McIlroy Cost: Free Rory McIlroy has continued his rise up the golfing ladder with major success on the world stage. He has produced an app that can keep the fans updated on his progress in a one-stop shop iPhone application. A great audio introduction in the home screen sets the scene for this app and I can’t wait jump in and see the video, the audio and the written content Rory has to offer. This app has four main sections: - Latest Message: Where Rory gives updates on his recent tournament results and travels via audio and video. - Twitter: Which is a direct feed to Rory’s twitter feed - RSS Feed: Where Rory mini blogs about his tournament results before and after and also his personal life - “More” Section: This includes Rory’s YouTube Channel, Sponsors, Image Gallery and an area where you can leave feedback. Although this app won’t necessarily help you to lower your scores, it does delve a little deeper into the world of one of the brightest talents in world golf today. It’s quite refreshing to hear Rory’s voice in the introduction as he writes candidly about his 6 year relationship with Holly (Sweeney) and how at just 22 years old, she has been a big part of his life. AUGUST 2011 The “Latest Message” section offers audio updates on Rory’s tournament progress (though the last update being the Hong Kong Open in November last year). There are also some short videos of his travels to UNICEF. Rory’s RSS feed offers more updated information on tournaments post-round and is a great way of keeping up to date on his thoughts and feelings whilst on Tour. The “more section” offers a link to Rory’s YouTube Channel with almost 20 videos relating to his swing, interview and life on tour. With plenty of great images and information on the rising star, this is a must app for all golf and Rory fans to keep to in touch with the Irishman. GOLF INFUZION MAGAZINE 49
