July 2018 | Overdrive | 55 Fleet News By Dean SmallwooD Calgary, Alberta-based TRIMAC TRANSPORTATION announced an 11 percent increase in mile- age pay for owner-operators and company drivers in the Southeast. Owner-operators now make $1.72 per loaded mile for roundtrip loads over 250 miles. Fuel surcharge is paid on all U.S. miles loaded and empty. Greensboro, North Carolina-based EPES TRANSPORT SYSTEM now offers independent contractors per- centage-based pay. Epes also announced a 2-cents-per-mile pay increase for company driv- ers and a 2-cent performance bonus. Jackson, Mississippi-based KLLM TRANSPORT SERVICES now pays solo company drivers 45 to 55 cents per mile based on experience. Over-the-road teams earn 55 to 60 cents. Bolton, Ontario-based TITANIUM TRUCKING SERVICES approved pay increases for its cross-border company drivers: Flatbed mileage, 60 cents; flat- bed hourly, $28; van mileage, 56 cents; and van hourly, $25. Salt Lake City-based refrig- erated carrier C.R. ENGLAND announced a multimillion- dollar pay increase for its Over the Road Division drivers. Green Bay, Wisconsin- based SCHNEIDER increased pay for solo and team driv- ers in its Van Truckload and Bulk divisions. Little Rock, Arkansas-based MAVERICK TRANSPORTATION announced a pay raise for student drivers and a new "pay for experi- ence" plan. The student pay increase brings flatbed regional starting pay to 47 cents per mile, flatbed over- the-road to 49 cents, glass over-the- road to 53 cents and temperature- controlled over-the-road to 49 cents. All drivers on the "pay for experi- ence" plan, including student and experienced, receive additional pay for verifiable months of service, up to a maximum of 48 months.
