And new in 2013, AFA will bring vocational training designed to increase employees knowledge and improve their skills. Intensive pre-show training on Monday and Tuesday will be followed by the traditional FENCETECH educational seminars, trade show and networking through Friday. Fence Industry Week is one of the new strategies AFA has designed to help increase your business and keep you ahead of the competition. AFA notes that its most popular education seminars are being offered at a reduced rate of up to 85%. Typically FENCETECH takes place on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But for 2013, specialty training has been added on Monday and Tuesday. Check out these programs: Certified Installer (CI) program This course work is normally taught at AFAs Fence Installation School. These core fundamentals are suited for fencers to assure their installations are based on current standards and best practices. Completion of all eight core modules will prepare students for the specialty disciplines, which are designed for fencers who want standards and best practices- based training in a specific installation area. These courses are designed to help prepare the installer to take the upcoming specialty certification exams, currently under development, to be offered as part of AFAs new Certified Installer program. Sales Training School (STS) Benefit from this comprehensive industry specific training focused on helping you close more sales. Building on the fundamentals of the buying and selling process, salespeople will learn how to identify sales opportunities, develop effective listening and communication skills and learn how to utilize product features and benefits to close sales. These interactive and structured seminars are designed to instill an entirely different level of professionalism in salespeople. Automatic Gate System Designer (AGSD) Designed from the ground up, this is something completely new from AFA. Technology and the population boom has made the world a very small place. Keeping your piece of it protected will become more and more important, and coming and going out of those protected spaces easily and safely is what the AGSD course is all about. If you are currently an installer, become well rounded with this course. Successful completion of the exam leads to the IDEA / AFA designation of Certified Automatic Gate System Designer (CAGSD). Deck & Railing Boot Camp 2013 marks the 10-year anniversary of the tragedy when a dozen people were crushed to death when the wooden decks of a three-story Chicago apartment building collapsed under a crowd of partygoers. Fifty-seven others were injured. Even though it made national headlines, currently there is no other hands-on training for deck safety and best practices for construction. Thats why AFA continues to offer the Vinyl Fence, Deck and Railing Manufacturers Association (VFDRMA) Deck and Railing Boot Camp. Taught by a certified deck engineer, get hands-on training by building a deck during the show and learn the industry guidelines and specifications that will set you on the path to the profitable outdoor living market.
