clients. Other output options for LAS subsets include selecting classification categories as well as filtering by return value. Automatic mosaics of results are provided when clipping across multiple LiDAR datasets to return a single LiDAR file. End users can search and discover LiDAR data in a catalog by performing simple or complex queries based on metadata and spatial extents as well as preview the results of queries in a thin client using different styles. Visions becoming Reality Today's progressive organizations are using geospatial data as the underpinning for all decision making. In many ways, those in the industry have talked about GIS and geospatial data being this decision-making foundation for many years. But legacy technologies often made bringing this vision to life rather difficult, especially for using complex geospatial data in near-real time. LiDAR is entering an era of enhanced use by many organizations within multiple vertical sectors. Today's data management and exploitation solutions must allow organizations to fully leverage such complex geospatial information to make smarter decisions— whether for forestry, defense and intelligence or utilities managing corridors. A LiDAR dataset has been RGB-encoded in 2-D and 3-D. Steve du Plessis is the Global Product Line executive, Remote Sensing, at Intergraph; e-mail: steve.duplessis@intergraph.com. HAS GONE MOBILE!
