Water Recreation n Harmon Lake Recreation Area Located on Otter Creek just eight miles north of Mandan on Highway 1806, this area offers an adventurous atmosphere of amenities including: campsites, picnic shelters, fishing piers, trails, playground, and various watercraft rentals. For more information, call 701-667-3363. n McDowell Dam Recreation Area This 271 acre park is located five miles east of Bismarck on Old Highway 10 and one mile north. Available activities include swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and paddle boating. There is a public beach, picnic shelters that are available and can be reserved for special occasions, horseshoe pits, a small concessions area, a playground and modern restrooms. There is a paved recreational trail, as well as a wooded area for nature walks or runs. For more information, call 701-223-7016. n Missouri River Dotted with sandbars and lined by gentle river bluffs, this broad, swift waterway has public access points that are numerous along the southern stretch of the river and most are good. Several public sites can be used for camping for canoeists who wish to make an extended trip. Canoe rentals and outfitters are also available. Walleye fishing on the Missouri River system is excellent. Racetrack Dacotah Speedway: Dacotah Centennial Park, 2500 Longspur Trail, Mandan. Open from May to September.
