Leon told us that this year to date has been good. The company business mix is 80% commercial and 20% residen- tial, generated over a 500 mile radi- us. We asked what the biggest product movers were on the residential side, and were told that black vinyl coated chain link is clearly it. Leon noted that people are changing from galvanized to black vinyl coated chain link. On the commercial side, chain link and ornamental metal are clearly the products of choice. The company also does a decent volume in access control items as well. We then asked what the biggest challenge has been so far this year. We were told, as has been said so many times before, it is finding qual- ified help. However, Leon pointed out that some employees who worked with the company before they went out on their own, but they have made themselves available to work as subs, have been working out well on a where and when basis that they are needed, which has made the labor shortage somewhat more tenable. We then asked what the biggest surprise has been so far this year. Clearly, Leon said it has been the con- tinuous flow of business. "This has been a very good year so far and it has been a very surprising development to me," he said. We then asked about the economy in the area. Leon summed it up in a word, "hot." On the residential side, although not in his immediate area, townhouses and condos are going well along with some single family hous- ing units. On the commercial side, the pipe- line industry is doing well, so we were told. There is a good number of start- up companies that have sprung up. Also on the horizon are several mini storage units. As for infrastructure – a lot of construction is taking place. Roadwork is very busy. On Interstate 30 they are currently redoing portions of the highway – going from two lanes to three lanes, as well as working on a total of nine bridges in that span of work as well. We then asked about the company strategy for 2019. In the most simplis- tic terms, the company is going after more access control work.
