News From The World Of Fencing And Gate Automation World FENCE NEWS November 2019 There are high profile fence jobs, and then there are HIGH profile fence jobs. One that definitely falls into the latter category is an eye-catching cus- tom built gated structure that serves as the entrance to the Arkansas State Fairgrounds in Little Rock. The Arkansas State Fair Complex is home to many major events, includ- ing the Arkansas State Fair, which was held in October. The entryway was fabricated and installed by Bill's Fence Company out of Cabot, Ark. The company also in- stalled several hundred lineal feet of ornamental steel and black vinyl coat- ed chain link with black privacy slats. Lance Pabst, a 30-year fenceman and owner of Bill's Fence Company, described the scope of work: • Custom overhead iron entry- ways with 24" cast aluminum letters mounted to designer mesh. • Custom 12'-8" tall masonry col- umns with precast caps and tapered aluminum flag poles. • Custom 30' wide 6'-8' arched double swing iron entry gate. New arched entryway welcomes visitors to the Arkansas State Fairgrounds • 500 LF of 6' tall 3-rail smooth top ornamental steel fence from Fortress Fence Products (Fortress V2 commercial ornamental fence). • 300 LF of 6' tall black vinyl coated chain link fence with black Pexco PDS ® Winged Slats ® . Other suppliers on the job were JMS Metals (raw steel), Arkansas Flag and Banner (flag poles) and McNichols Wire Products (custom wire mesh). "The entrance was built from the foundation up, and the steel-alu- minum-brick combination took less than 90 days to complete," noted Dal- ton Pabst, the project manager. "The complete entrance, assembled and built on-site by Bill's Fence Company, consists of four steel tube columns, three steel tube archways with custom designer mesh infills and 24" tall cast aluminum letters. The 13' tall brick columns also surround the posts, each having plate mounted aluminum flag poles.
