This holiday season, treat yourself to quality
theater, comedy, and live music by some of
Milwaukee's finest choral singers.
Bel Canto Chorus
Now celebrating its 88th year, Bel Canto
Chorus, the oldest continually performing arts
organization in Southeastern Wisconsin, keeps
choral music, some of which is hundreds of
years old, sounding fresh and exciting.
Besides a chorus of more than 100
auditioned adult singers, Bel Canto, which
formed in 1931, also has a Senior Singers
program for choral music enthusiasts ages 55
and up. Each year, Bel Canto's four concerts,
particularly the popular Christmas in the
Basilica, set in Milwaukee's architectural jewel,
the Basilica of St. Josephat, attracts thousands.
Held Dec. 13-15, performances include John
Rutter's "Gloria," audience sing-alongs, and
plenty of traditional Christmas carols. For

Marcus Performing Arts Center
With a staggering 10 Tony Awards and a
Grammy Award to its credit, The Band's Visit,
Nov. 26-Dec. 1 at the Marcus Performing Arts
Center as part of the Johnson Financial Group
Broadway at the Marcus Center series, will
charm and move audiences. The Broadway
hit musical tells the story about a group of
musicians who find themselves in a small
desert town. Enlivened by the power of music,
the town will never be quite the same again.
Blow off some post-Thanksgiving-shopping
steam and enjoy some laughs with famed
Chicago comedy troupe Second City at the
Marcus Center's Wilson Theater at Vogel Hall,
Nov. 29-Dec. 1. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
Sweater takes a playful jab at joyous, yet often
maddening, Christmas traditions.
