River's Edge Golf Club—Home of
Arnie's Revenge and located in
Shallotte, NC, was our third day of
golf on this amazing trip. Nestled
alongside the Shallotte River, this
Arnold Palmer signature design
that opened in 1999, is by far one
of the most scenic courses along
the eastern coast of the United
States. With seven of the 18 holes
running along the bluffs and grassy
marshes of the Shallotte River and
Copas Lake, the stunning vistas are
unmatched. Rivers Edge utilizes
Sunday Ultradwarf Bermuda grass
for the greens surface. This is a
hardy strain of grass that offers
smooth, quick and uniform surfaces.
Arnie loves to surprise you at times
with a super challenging hole called
"Arnie's Revenge"…and this course
is no different. Arnie's Revenge At
Rivers Edge Golf Club happens to be
Hole No. 9, a par 5 at 570 yards.
The marshy waters of the Shallotte
River must be crossed twice and
a gorgeous yet narrow peninsula
green awaits. Skill is important
on this hole…but so is luck!
While golf made up the majority
of our four-day trip, our fourth and
final day was spent at a healing
sanctuary and spa to work the kinks
out and help heal those sore muscles.
The Sacred Willow Spa allowed us
to relax, unwind and rejuvenate
with personal anti-aging facials and
hour-long custom massages. I highly
recommend making a trip to this
spa —you won't be disappointed!
We also had the pleasure of dining
at some of the best restaurants in
the area that offered fresh-caught
seafood, local favorites and warm
Southern hospitality. We dined at
One of the
most unique
layouts I
have ever
played!
