Last fall, the City of Portland, Oregon's urban
forestry program achieved SMA Accreditation,
joining an elite roster of cities in the U.S. and
Canada that share this designation. We spoke
with City of Portland Botanic Specialists Nik
Desai and Gina Dake about this process that
they helped shepherd for Portland, encour-
aged by SMA Accreditation Committee
Chair Scott Altenhoff of Eugene, Oregon.
