I DA U N I V E R S A L N ove m b e r - D e ce m b e r 2 0 2 0 4 EDITOR'S NOTES Sheila Andrews Executive Director/Editor A s the new Executive Director of IDA, thank you to the loyal membership for continuing to participate in and support this organiza- tion. Without your longevity in backing the Association, I would not have this opportu- nity to be of service to you. To introduce myself, I thought it best to start by sharing one of my favorite things with you: the show, e West Wing. It isn't my favorite because of the politics; it's my favorite because of the ideas it continues to stoke in viewers... like the idea that belief in something can prevail over the people and things that want to divert us. I also love that show because its core theme is about teams. e team behind this fi ctitious White House is together 100% of the way, challenging each other when necessary and supporting each other always. ank you for welcoming me to your team. Celebrating our Team: Lean into our People "We're a team. We win together, we lose together, we celebrate and we mourn together. Defeats are so ened and victories sweetened because we did them together….I'm simply going to say this: you're my guys. And I'm yours. And there's nothing I wouldn't do for you." – Toby Ziegler, e West Wing I have spent 13 years working for trade associa- tions, fi rst with the American Motorcyclist Association, then with the Auto Care Associa- tion, and most recently with the Heavy Duty Distribu- tion Association. I work with trade associations, because their mission is to serve a group of individuals. Yes, we rally around an industry, but this industry remembers that business is done by people. If you serve the people, the business will always be better. At this point in global history, we could all stand for business to be a little better. Even if your numbers are up, the other circumstances surrounding us today make it diffi cult to feel easy about the future. at's why we need to lean into our people. My hope is that during my time with IDA, I can help you do that. Whether it is generating a new connectivity program for the compa- nies in your supply chain or increasing the fl ow of industry information to help you make better business decisions, I am now one of "your people." I'm here to help you grow, get more out of your membership, and celebrate our team. ank you for having me at IDA. Sheila Andrews Executive Director/Editor P.S. IDA is now on social!
