How do players qualify for the U.S. Team and Team Europe? Due to
COVID-19, qualifying for the Ryder Cup was modified in 2020 and has
been extended into 2021 for both the U.S. and European teams.
The U.S. squad is made up of 12 players. The team is composed
based on the Ryder Cup point standings and players have
accumulated points since the qualifying period began in 2019.
The top six players in the point standings automatically qualify
for the team. The remaining six positions will be selected by
Captain Steve Stricker, which is a change from prior events, due to
COVID-19. The team will be finalized in September 2021 following
the second FedExCup Playoff event, the BMW Championship.
