of the groundwater industry and then lis- ten to Rocky Bleier, a U.S. Army veteran and former Pittsburgh Steelers running back, tell his life sto- ry—a gripping tale of courage on both the football fields of America and the battlefields of Viet- nam—that has held audiences in rapt attention for years. The motivational message behind it, detailing how ordinary people can become extraordinary achievers, is the definition of success. Bleier will take attendees from his early years through his professional career and talk about the lessons he learned along the way— lessons that all can benefit from—in his speech, "Be the Best You Can Be." The morning is also when NGWA will award individuals and companies who have made a significant contribu- tion to the groundwater industry. Award recipients are recognized for their con- tribution through service, innovation, re- search, safety, and projects of scientific and technological importance affecting the growth and well-being of the industry. Exhibit Hall The Exhibit Hall will be packed with the latest products from the groundwater industry's manufacturers and suppliers on thousands of feet of exhibit space. Make sure you leave plenty of time to be in the hall during the 11 hours it is open. Exhibit Hall hours: • Wednesday, December 7 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m. • Thursday, December 8 10 a.m.–3 p.m. While in the Exhibit Hall, make sure you head to the Learning Center in the hall to see manufacturer product demon- strations both days. Affiliate Organization Peer-to-Peer Meeting Wednesday, December 7 10–11:30 a.m. An annual meeting of Affiliate Or- ganization executives and officers, this open forum is a great place to discuss issues facing your state and provides the opportunity to receive feedback from fel- low association leaders on how they have managed similar situations. (Open to Affiliate State executives and officers.) NGWA Delegates Meeting Wednesday, December 7 5–6 p.m. The NGWA Delegates Meeting is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the state of the Association and industry, hear from candidates seek- ing election to the NGWA Board of Directors, and to consider any pro- posed changes to the NGWA Code of Regulations. All are welcome to attend, but only credentialed delegates may sit in the delegate-seating area and cast a vote. To be eligible to serve as a delegate, you must be a current NGWA member and register on-site at the delegates' sign-in desk located in the attendee registration area and pick up the appropriate creden- tials. Hours are: • Tuesday, December 6 11 a.m.–5 p.m. • Wednesday, December 7 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Brewfest Thursday, December 8 1:30–3 p.m. Celebrate the conclusion of Ground- water Week 2022 in high style! Visit with fellow attendees in the Exhibit Hall while having a beer and noshing on complimentary snacks. Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Bellagio Fountains Thursday, December 8 3:30–5 p.m. and 4:30–6 p.m. How do they do it? The world- famous fountains at the Bellagio seam- lessly bring together water, light, and music for a one-of-a-kind attraction you can only see in Las Vegas. But what makes the water actually dance? During this tour, offered at two dif- ferent times, you will get an in-depth look at what it takes to put on one of the famed fountain shows at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino. A fountain control engineer will take you on a one-hour behind-the-scenes tour of the Bellagio fountains and show you what it takes to make sure this iconic attraction stays operational day in and day out. (Cost is $25 per person on or be- fore November 4 and $30 starting November 5; preregistration is highly recommended as the tour group size is limited.) HIGHLIGHTS from page 34 Science & Engineering Forum What was formerly the Groundwater Summit is now the Science & Engineering Forum and a part of Groundwater Week 2022. All Groundwater Week attendees can sit in on the sessions that will take place all three days and cover: • Geophysical techniques and applications • Groundwater data management • Groundwater management and governance • Groundwater modeling • Groundwater monitoring • Groundwater quality and sustainability • Groundwater remediation • Managed aquifer recharge.
