I first became exposed to urban forestry while obtaining my Bachelor of Urban Forestry (BUF) from the University of British Columbia. I pursued this degree because having lived my whole life in cities (Toronto, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia), I was incredibly enam- ored with the intersection of people, trees, and the built environment. It was in the BUF program where I developed an interest in municipal forest management, environmental governance, and urban forest resilience. I am currently pursuing these research topics in my Masters of Environmental Studies (MES) at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. My thesis research explores the interactions between non-govern- mental organizations and municipal governments in the delivery of urban-forest programming and poli- cymaking. Currently, I consider myself to be an urban forest researcher interested in both the biophys- ical and human-social elements of this domain. I have held two summer internships in partnership with Dalhousie University and Halifax Regional Municipality's (HRM) Urban Forest Department. As a research assistant, I was responsible for collecting data on HRM's newly planted street trees and maintaining a tree inventory housing this information. Additionally, with these data I am conducting a research project on factors contributing to mortality in juvenile street populations in Halifax. Formerly, I worked as research assistant for Natural Resources Canada. In this role, I worked with a team to develop a literature review of climate change adaptation and mitigation imple- mentations in the Canadian forest sector. I graduate from my MES degree in August 2023. Following, I hope to pursue work as a consul- tant, working on the management, plans, and policies surrounding urban forests, greenspaces and all associated urban biodiversity. I aspire to find a career that allows me to travel; however, I do intend on putting roots down somewhere close to the ocean on either the east or west coasts. When I am not working, I enjoy rock climbing, surfing, cycling, reading fiction, hiking, backcountry camping, and exploring local coffee shops or breweries.
