The industry implements the green development concept throughout the en- tire process of tobacco production and operation: promote major scientific and technological programs for tobacco bio- breeding, successfully select and breed resistant seeds, and reduce the damage to the environment from the source of the tobacco production process. It also continuously strengthens pollution management, promotes bio- degradable mulch, and actively carries out recycling of mulch, straw, and other tobacco waste. In addition, the industry implements the use of natural fertilizers, increases the application of organic fertil- izers, promotes soil formula fertilization, water, and fertilizer integration, and re- duces the use of chemical fertilizers. In 2021, 94% of tobacco fields used organic fertilizers, while 96% of tobacco fields adopted aphidius gifuensis ashmead for pest management. Therefore, an ecologi- cal, efficient, low-carbon tobacco pro- duction system was formed. "Wastes" come into the smart curing barns In Chahai village, Languan town, Weng'an county, Guizhou province, there is a new cluster of biomass pellet fuel curing barns. Zhang Quanru, a tobacco farmer, said that it takes about 1,900 pounds of biomass fuel to cure a barn of tobacco leaves, which can be burned for 24 hours during the yellowing stage. It reduces the number of workers and labor intensity, and automatically controls the tempera- ture and humidity, greatly enhancing the curing rate. Compared with the original coal fuel, the use of biomass fuel can help to save about RMB300 per barn. The raw material for this biomass fuel is also very common: waste wood, branches, tree trunks, and corn stalks that farmers have piled up for years. A mod- ern curing barn with compatible equip- ment and this fuel is of intelligent auto- matic management. As long as biomass fuel is supplied and the temperature and humidity indicators are adjusted properly, good tobacco leaves can be cured. In recent years, the major tobacco regions have continued to promote low- carbon energy curing barns equipped with biomass pellet fuel, electricity, and solar energy. In addition to the above mentioned barns, the carbon crystal cur- ing barn independently developed by the Linyi branch of China Tobacco (Shan- dong) Commercial Corporation has achieved very obvious energy saving and emission reduction effect. Test results show that dust particle emissions were reduced by 100%. In 2021, Linyi branch increased the number of carbon crystal curing barns to 91, achieving excellent social benefits. The industry is also actively work- ing with agricultural machinery manu- facturers to plan the development and promotion of new fuel farm machinery,
