Mauna Kea Golf Course – A Stop On
Our Way In Waikoloa For Breakfast!
Monday came and we were up and
running to get an early start on our day
and our third round of golf on the Big
Island. Headed to the Waikoloa Golf
Club at the King's Golf Course to shop
and then have breakfast before heading
to the Mauna Kea Golf Course located at
the Mauna Kea Marriott Resort—about
an hour's drive north of our hotel.
After our delicious breakfast, we were on
our way for an afternoon round of golf at
the beautiful and scenic Mauna Kea Golf
Resort located at the base of the Mauna
Kea Volcano. This course was by far the
most challenging of the three rounds we
played. The elevation alone on each of
the 18 holes, made walking to your ball a
challenge as well ... even with a golf cart!
Check this course off your bucket list
after your round at the legendary Mauna
Kea Golf Course, created in 1964 by
Robert Trent Jones Sr. on what was once
a barren black lava field. Today, lush
fairways tumble across seaside cliffs
with unfolding ocean and coastal views.
Elevated, undulating greens and prevailing
coastal winds demand accuracy, while the
epic over-the-ocean signature third hole
guarantees an unforgettable day of play.
