Best Caddie Experience – Priceless! During Tim's past 13 years as a caddie at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort, he has had many great experiences and is a wealth of knowledge. His best experience and one that he shared with us as being "priceless" is the day he got to caddie for Pete Dye himself. With the course opening in spring of 2009, Pete Dye was there quite a bit and Tim was lucky enough to caddie four times for him over those earlier years. Some of the other noteworthy celebrities Tim has caddied for in the past at Pete Dye include Pat Bradley, Nancy Lopez, Jan Stevenson, Ian Baker Finch, Jerry Kelly, Lee Westwood and Bernhard Langer (in a practice round). He was supposed to caddie for REO Speedwagon, but the weather that day was freezing cold, and they did not play. Other Not So Great Caddie Stories Tim shared a story about his very first experience at the Pete Dye Golf Course as a new caddie. He was nervous and he was assigned to caddie for these two guys who played football for the University of Michigan. One of the golfers was a "peach" to caddie for, but the other was extremely demanding and continued to make the round difficult on Tim. His partner told Tim not to worry about him as apparently that was just how he was all of the time. Tim let it go and learned a lot from that first day on the course. He continues to have fun and fine-tune his skills and knowledge to offer the best service to all of his golfers. He says that a good caddie has to adjust all of the time to the golfers you are with…and to his or her skill level. We all know that golf is a tough sport, and not everyone can play golf well. When you come out to the Pete Dye Golf Course and spend $375 for a round of golf, plus $40 per person (plus tip) for a caddie, you expect to have a fantastic experience… and that is what Tim offers! Tim also told us about a time he was assigned to a group of four players who were destined to get their money's worth. Each of the four guys teed off on the first hole and took five shots each and were only near the forward tees. Tim said, "Fellas, I'm not laughing at you, but with you." After they walked off the first green, Tim looked back to see where the starter was, and he noticed he had disappeared. Tim wanted to know who was playing this cruel joke on him. He thought, "These guys can't be this bad." However, after 25 shots each and only finishing up the second hole, he knew he was in for a very long round if this pace continued. "We need a scramble!" said Tim after the second hole debacle and three of the four golfers said yes. He finally convinced the fourth player to agree to a scramble, and they made it a lot more fun and were able to finish the round without holding up other golfers on the course.
