Tim's Advice On Being A Caddie
More and more teens and youngsters are
getting into caddie programs due to the
popularity of the Evans Scholars Program
and offering full scholarships to college
for those who qualify. French Lick Resort
typically has roughly 50 caddies available-
-made up of seasoned caddies as well as
youngsters wanting to caddie to earn a
scholarship, etc. During the school season,
that number usually drops to 20 or so as
the kids will caddie on the weekends only.
Tim gives advice for anyone wanting to
be a caddie and offers several tips. He
says, "If you don't know anything about
being a caddie, read some books on
it. Also, being a golfer does help, but
knowing golf etiquette is 99% of the job.
You also have to watch people and see
what they do---you are their tour guide
for the round. You need to gain their trust
on the course. Once you do, you will
give them a fantastic golf experience."
At 55 years old, Tim loves what he does
and feels he has at least another 10
great years to caddie. He also gets great
exercise on the course. When asked
how long he sees himself as a caddie
on the Pete Dye Course at French Lick
Resort, Tim replies, "Until I drop!"
If you get the chance to request a caddie-
--ask for Tim or his caddie buddy, Rich.
They are requested quite often, and
they will create the most memorable
experiences for you! For more info,
