sides make up the unique, delectable
dishes that are served at this casual,
comfortable restaurant. After dinner,
we had an hour's drive back to the
hotel and got back right at sunset!
This was our last day on the Big Island
before heading back home to reality.
So, it was a relaxing beach day, with
last-minute shopping for gifts, and
getting ready to head back home! We
dined at Foster's Kitchen for dinner that
evening, which was about a mile walk
along the ocean from our hotel and well
worth the trip. We sat in the open-air
bar area with beautiful ocean views
while we dined on fantastic homemade
local favorites. This restaurant was
also recommended to us by one of the
locals we met earlier in the week.
Heading Home
The good thing about staying in Kona
is that the Kona Airport is literally 15
minutes away. We got there in plenty
of time, returned our rental car and sat
outside on the small runway area at
5:30am waiting for Southwest Airlines to
let us start boarding. A pretty full flight,
we headed back home with a stop in
Phoenix, Arizona, changed planes, and
then landed at Chicago's Midway Airport
around 9pm—-a five-hour difference in
the time. It felt great to land in Chicago
and head back home to Indiana.
What a great memorable trip! We are
already planning our return visit!!
