The Donald Ross Golf Course is definitely a test of your skills no matter what level of golfer you are, and I've learned over the years to club up on my shots due to the elevated greens on many of the holes. I also love the Donald Ross Clubhouse after our round to sit outside in a rocking chair with a cold brew and watch the players on many of the holes that offer a beautiful panoramic view of the golf course in the backdrop. "Golf is not a fair game, so why build a fair golf course?"—Pete Dye. Yes, it is true. However, the Pete Dye Golf Course is my favorite course at French Lick to play, and I tend to play it better than I do the Donald Ross Golf Course. It could be because we always get a fantastic caddie to help us with our golf shots, our putting lines, along with great course knowledge. We have spent 4-1/2 hours with some of the best caddies French Lick Resort has to offer. And this round was no different. Tim Walls, a French Lick, Indiana local, and a long-time caddie favorite among golfers, was assigned to us for our round. He was a wealth of knowledge and had several great "caddie" stories to share with us as we played our round. He even invited us to watch Spring Valley High School's Friday night football game against their main rival where his stepson was a local star on the team. What fun that was! The caddies at the Pete Dye Course make your round so much more enjoyable as they help find your ball if you hit it in the thick rough or fescue, or if you find one of the many steep bunkers, they will rake the sand for you. They help line up your putts especially with greens that have quite a bit of undulation to them ... which makes for many three putts if you are not careful. Caddie, Tim Walls—Priceless Opportunity To Caddie For Pete Dye
