professionals it's a vocabulary that helps them describe complex
tastes in drinks. It's an antidote to palate laziness. Roda Rasa Kopi
Indonesia comprises familiar domestic references — as opposed to
pomegranate, prune, and skunky in SCA's wheel — giving Indone-
sian users a vocabulary to connect intuitively to flavor.
In our own words
We're curious. Young people from all over Indonesia are participat-
ing in barista training, specialty coffee classes, and SCA certification
programs to demystify and understand this new language But we
want to use our own language too.
Creating your own flavor wheel means building a linguistic and
cultural bridge that will help local coffee professionals understand
the SCA wheel's references, attributes, and language. With its vari-
ous training programs and certifications, SCA sets a global stan-
dard. Our role in coffee producing countries is to break this down into
a regionally focused perspective, which begins with understanding
and celebrating one's own culture and agriculture.
