Would you make a great
SMA Board Member?
The SMA Nominations Committee is soliciting
qualified SMA members to help the organization
deliver on its mission to grow the competence, con-
fidence, and camaraderie of all professionals who
grow and care for community forests!
Would you or someone you know make a great
board member for SMA? Our organization
has been a sound and steady presence since
1964, helping people speak for the trees. New
SMA leadership, an increased understanding
of urban forestry, and a historic moment for
urban forestry funding makes now an especially
exciting time to serve as a board member.
Potential candidates must have been a professional
member in good standing for the last three years
and have participated in or attended an SMA-related
activity such as the Annual Meeting/Conference
or MFI, or have served on an SMA committee.
Our members do great things throughout the year!
The SMA Awards Committee is seeking nominations
for awards and honors that will be presented during
an evening reception during the 2nd World Forum on
Urban Forests. Nominating someone for an award is
an excellent way to recognize the hard work they do
overseeing the planting and caring for trees or con-
tributing in other ways to our field, like in the areas
of education and research. Take some time to think of
a deserving candidate and nominate them today!
More information on the award categories and a form
to submit nominees can be found at the SMA website:
