Discussion has focused on the existing training, current leadership ideas, possible add-on programs, complementary links to other programs, and potential need for an MFI 2.0. M F I A l u m n i E v e n t s MFI Alumni Events and Refresher Courses have started. An alumni event will be held in conjunction with the ISA Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. MFI events will focus on providing new learnings and "a-ha" moments to past graduates. Additional in- person and virtual gatherings will be scheduled throughout 2023. S t a k e h o l d e r I n p u t SMA has convened a broad group of stakeholders to hear their feedback and input regarding MFI including what works, what could be improved, and what is needed for the future. This includes a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion and ensuring all voices are part of the community forestry profession. This time is being used to ensure the program meets modern standards for urban forestry leadership development and is positioned to evolve into the future. So far, SMA has pulled together a steering committee to provide guidance, completed a survey of past MFI participants, held a virtual listening session, and scheduled MFI Refresher Courses. This comprehensive review of MFI will help ensure the Institute remains the premier leadership training in the urban forestry field! The full Municipal Forestry Institute will be held in early 2024.
