It is necessary to test and service the batteries in conjunction with other scheduled maintenance services. A diagnostics program enables batteries to be tested quickly, safely and efficiently in order to receive a snapshot of their condition. Preventative maintenance is intended to prevent or mitigate premature battery failure, plus reduce costs associated with man-hours (removing/ charging etc.), transportation, and the purchase of new batteries. It also includes checking and charging batteries prior to installation. It is very common to get "new" batteries that have been sitting idle for months prior to your receiving them. Starting with a fully charged battery helps ensure that maximum usage is obtained from each battery. Corrective maintenance is intended to reverse or correct a problem that has already occurred. It is necessary to identify and correct the cause of the problem to help reduce and prevent future problems. Some common battery failures are a result of key offloads, parasitic drain, operator error, lack of use or battery self-discharge and short engine run times. PulseTech's BMMP will provide direct benefits including optimal vehicle electrical system performance, lower battery related maintenance ex- penses, fewer dead vehicles and jump starts and extended battery life. PulseTech has trained in hundreds of locations including Baghdad, Ba- gram, Vilseck, Camp Arifjan and Camp Casey. Years of experience work- ing with the military has given us the opportunity of watching our Battery Maintenance Management Program perform. By showing managers and technicians how to institute and maintain a good diagnostic, preventative and corrective maintenance program, they are consistently able to reduce man-hours, extend battery life and achieve impressive overall cost savings. Battery Maintenance Management Program (BMMP) Our comprehensive BMMP training takes a total of two hours. One hour is spent in the classroom followed by one hour of hands-on demonstrations which are conducted in the mainte- nance bay after the classroom portion is completed. Achieve an immediate and significant reduction in lead-acid battery consumption with PulseTech's BMMP. This program consists of diagnostic, preventive and corrective maintenance on-site training specifically customized to your military organization's needs and teaches man- agers and technicians the intricacies of modern lead-acid battery maintenance. Detailed training covers: • Many different types of automotive batteries most military technicians see on a consistent basis • How to diagnose batteries in a multitude of platforms • Platform-specific charging techniques • Battery safety • How to maintain charged batteries • How to increase the lifespan of all batteries
