Would you make a great UCFS Board Member? The UCFS Nominations Committee is soliciting qualified UCFS members to help the organization deliver on its mission to grow the competence, con- fidence, and camaraderie of all professionals who grow and care for community forests! Would you or someone you know make a great board member for UCFS? Our organization has been a sound and steady presence since 1964, helping people speak for the trees. An increased understanding of urban forestry, a new stra- tegic direction, and a historic moment for urban forestry funding makes now an especially exciting time to serve as a board member. Potential candidates must have been a profes- sional member in good standing for the last three years and have participated in or attended an UCFS-related activity such as the Annual Meeting/ Conference, MFI, or have served on a committee. Our members do great things throughout the year! The UCFS Outreach Committee is seeking nominations for awards and honors that will be presented during a recep- tion at the annual UCFS Conference and Tradeshow, which in 2024 will be in Chicago, Illinois on November 18–19. Nominating someone for an award is an excellent way to recognize the hard work they do planting and caring for trees or contributing in other ways to our field, like in the areas of education and research. Take some time to think of a deserving candidate and nominate them today! More information on the award categories and a form to submit nominees can be found here. Award nominations are due September 13, 2024 Nominate someone today for a UCFS Award! More information on the required qualifications, duties, and responsibilities of a UCFS Board Member, along with an application, can be found here.
