Defensive specialist
joins Bucks' stars
as NBA action begins
The Milwaukee Bucks enter the first full
month of their 2024-'25 National Basketball
Association season with a new shooting
guard known for defensive as well as
offensive skills.
Joining superstars Giannis
Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard is Gary
Trent Jr., who signed a one-year contract after starring as
a defender in Toronto. His offensive punch also is strong,
including an April 5, 2024, outing against the Bucks when
he scored 31 points to snap a 15-game Raptors' losing string.
Trent joins a deeper team than last year, giving coach Doc
Rivers more lineup options. Ten home games in November
are sure to test the Bucks. Visiting teams will include the
Indiana Pacers, the New York Knicks and the defending NBA
champion Boston Celtics.
While sportscasters and sportswriters have been
skeptical of the Bucks this season, at least one retired NBA
star hasn't. "I'm going to go with the Bucks," Shaquille O'Neal
predicted in his podcast a week before the season started.
