Bucks struggle to blend
talented newcomers
with their superstars
The Milwaukee Bucks got off to a slow
start in the first full month of the National
Basketball Association season as coaches
labored to blend the skills of veteran players
with the energy of talented newcomers.
Joining superstars Giannis
Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard is Gary
Trent Jr., who signed a one-year contract after starring as
a defender in Toronto. His offensive punch also is strong,
including an April 5, 2024, outing against the Bucks when
he scored 31 points to snap a 15-game Raptors' losing string.
Trent joins a deeper team than last year, giving coach Doc
Rivers more lineup options.
While sportscasters and sportswriters have been
skeptical of the Bucks this season, at least one retired NBA
star hasn't. "I'm going to go with the Bucks," Shaquille O'Neal
predicted in his podcast a week before the season started.
