credential after republication. Those who have the credential will continue to have two methods of recer- tification. The first method is to retake and pass the ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional exam. The second option is to accumulate at least 30 con- tinuing education units (CEUs) over the three-year certification period (CEUs must be related to the 4 new tested domains and examination outline for the program) and pay the recertification fee. With all the important information pro- vided to you in this article, let's sum it up: • A profession is guided by a body of knowledge. Credentialing proves that you have this knowledge. UCFS worked alongside ISA to define the body of knowledge for urban and community forestry. • ISA Certified Arborist Municipal Specialist is now called ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional. • ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional has revised areas of knowledge for what you will be tested on. • The ISA Certified Arborist credential will no longer be a prerequisite to become a candidate for ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional. • UCFS and ISA will work in lockstep on the ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional credential, supporting existing credential holders, assisting candidates for the program, and promoting the credential outside of our profession. Our profession is growing in new and exciting ways! Know that UCFS stands with you, the front- line professionals who ensure important tree care happens, urban forests grow, and our commu- nities thrive. We will support you along the way including building your confidence and competence to do your job well. Thank you for all you do! Call our arborists for a complimentary consultation.
