Now NBA Cup Champs,
Bucks getting stronger
For the Milwaukee Bucks, December
2024 was a December to remember. They
demonstrated that they again are contenders
for the National Basketball Association
championship by winning the 2024 NBA Cup
in Las Vegas on both ends of the court.
The victory over the Oklahoma City
Thunder demonstrated how far the Bucks have come after a
slow start this season. Coach Doc Rivers' team now blends
the talents of superstars Giannis Antetounmpo and Damian
Lillard with the skills of veteran Bucks like Brook Lopez and
Bobby Portis and talented newcomers like Taurean Prince,
Andre Jackson Jr. and Gary Trent Jr.
Criticized in the past for its defense, the team has
dramatically improved in that area, as shown in the NBA
Cup championship when they held their opponent to only 81
points. Blocked shots by Antetounmpo and Lopez now are
regularly featured as "plays of the day."
Fiserv Forum, located downtown in the Deer District, is
the state-of-the-art home of the Bucks. The team plays eight
