MIAD
The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design
(MIAD) galleries highlight three current
exhibits this fall. All galleries are free and
open to the public.
The Dry Points, a printmaking "rock band,"
showcase a series of more than 100 portraits
of esteemed Milwaukeeans, which originally
were displayed in Milwaukee's City Hall in
2015. The exhibit satirizes the patriarchy
of these individuals while simultaneously
honoring their accomplishments through
modern pop-cultural references. On display
through Dec. 13.
Our Mothers Ourselves features photo
-
graphic-based prints, constructions, and
narratives of 12 artists, which explore uniq
ue
challenges and legacies of mothers. On dis
-
play through Dec. 13.
Constant Practice showcases the MIAD fac-
ulty and staff's cutting-edge ideas and diverse
approaches across media including
animation,
architecture, illustration, and fashion. On dis-
play through Nov. 20.
Visit the galleries during Gallery Night MKE
Oct. 17. A reception will be held.
