Trades help Bucks
Just as the Milwaukee Brewers were the
surprise team of Major League Baseball this
season, the Milwaukee Bucks may be the
surprise team of the National Basketball Association..
During the off season, the Bucks shored up their lineup in a
number of ways. They re-signed Kevin Porter Jr. and Gary Trent Jr.
and added veteran guards Cole Anthony, Amir Coffey and Gary
Harris, who can ably step in for A.J. Green and Ryan Rollins. But
the biggest change was the addition of Myles Turner, center for
the Indiana Pacers and a big reason the Pacers went all the way
to the NBA Championship game last season.
Turner is enthusiastic about playing alongside two-time league
MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and adds many skills that last
year's team was missing. Turner replaces departed center Brook
Lopez, a popular Buck whose prowess wasn't rebounding. Along
with fan-favorite Bobby Portis, expect the 2025-'26 Bucks to
have an improved defense and to run more when Giannis gets a
deserved rest. And Turner, like Portis, can score from under the
basket as well as three-point range.
Fans got a hint of the new-look Bucks during two October
preseason games at home in Fiserv Forum. The Bucks won three
of their four preseason games, but the regular season started
after the deadline for the November issue of Key Milwaukee.
General Manager Jon Horst, however, gave a good idea of what
to expect, saying that to maximize the talents of "the best player
in the world," the Bucks under coach Doc Rivers will be deeper,
younger, more athletic and faster. For fans, that means big Bucks'
leads won't disappear in the fourth quarter as they frequently did
last season.

the team is on the road, visitors enjoy the Bucks Pro Shop in the
popular Deer District.
