MVP's injury
hurts Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks could be the surprise team in the National
Basketball Association this season, depending on how fast their
best player recovers from a mid-November injury.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, known as the Greek Freak, was
leading the NBA in almost all categories before his injury, He was
averaging 32.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.
Then, on Nov.17, he sustained a groin injury and was projected to
miss the next two weeks of the season. His injury came the same
week as Victor Wembenyama, San Antonio's 7-foot, 4-inch star,
was sidelined for perhaps three weeks with a serious calf strain.
The Bucks already had Kevin Porter Jr. and Taurean Prince on
the bench with injuries. Both had been major contributors to the
Bucks' fast start this season. Remaining healthy and productive
are center Myles Turner, who the Bucks obtained from the Indiana
Pacers, and power forward Kyle Kuzma, who is showing the skills
that led the Bucks to acquire him from the Washington Wizards.
Coach Doc Rivers and his assistants are certain to be creating
new strategies that may surprise opponents and fans. Look for
Ryan Rollins, A.J. Green, Gary Trent Jr., Bobby Portis and Cole
Anthony to play major roles.
