Training, Trade Fairs, and Traceability
Capacity building is a cornerstone of the program. ITC has delivered training on har-
vest and postharvest standards, barista skills, and sensory analysis, often in collabora-
tion with institutions such as Ghana's Cocobod Research Institute and Spain's Basque
Culinary Center. "We've also reinforced south-south collaboration between India and
African countries in terms of knowledge sharing, coffee trading, and the adoption of
new technologies," says Sadiq Syed, trade promotion advisor at ITC.
Beneficiaries have showcased their products at regional and international events,
including the ACRAM coffee festival in Cameroon (Cacao and Coffee Festival), the
AFCA coffee show (African Fine Coffees Conference & Exhibition), World of Coffee
Dubai, and the African Barista Champi-
onship (hosted at the African Fine Cof-
fees Conference & Exhibition in Dar es
Salaam). "These platforms help young
women and men develop new careers
and connect with buyers," notes Charles.
