E-Cigarettes: dominant but diminishing Despite the declines, e-cigarettes remain the most widely used nicotine prod- uct among US youth. Multiple analyses of the 2025 data confirm that vaping continues to lead all other categories by a substantial margin. However, the trajectory remains downward. The drop to roughly 5.2% in 2025 represents a continuation of the decline observed in earlier years. While the term "epidemic" persists in some policy discussions, the data shows a product category moving away from peak prevalence rather than toward it. Product mix and market signals The NYTS does not only measure prevalence. It also reflects how the product landscape evolves. Independent analyses and supporting datasets indicate that disposable e-cigarettes continue to dominate youth usage patterns. In confis- cation and observational studies, the overwhelming majority of devices used by adolescents fall into the disposable category, with a strong skew toward flavored products. This matters because it highlights a divergence between regulatory frameworks and market reality. While enforcement efforts have targeted spe- cific product types and formats, youth usage patterns continue to concentrate in segments that combine convenience, accessibility, and product variety. The 2025 NYTS results do not directly quantify device types in headline figures, but the broader evidence base aligns with the survey's prevalence data: fewer users overall, but continued concentration within specific product formats. Nicotine pouches and oral products Nicotine pouches remain a small but notable segment within the youth mar- ket. The 2025 NYTS places their prevalence at approximately 1.7%, a slight decline from the prior year's 1.8% Youth nicotine use in the US continues to decline across product categories.
