Slinger Parks & Recreation Yuichi Yokoyama's Neo Manyo Japanese artist Yuichi Yokoyama makes his first U.S. public installation with Neo Manyo (2023/2026), a billboard-scale work at 219 East Wisconsin Ave. Inspired by the 8th-century poetry anthology Man'yōshū, Yokoyama uses his distinctive "neo-manga" style to replace conventional storytelling with motion, rhythm, and repetition, depicting a ship moving through churning water. The scene features a poem by Buddhist monk Sami Mansei comparing the fleeting world to a boat rowing away at dawn, leaving no trace. Presented in collaboration with curator Mizuki Takezaki, Neo Manyo is part of Sculpture Milwaukee's 2026 exhibition, Power of the Margins. sculpturemilwaukee.com/artists/yuichi- yokoyama-neo-manyo
