CONTRIBUTORS We asked: "Which exhibition are you most looking forward to this fall?" Ted Loos covers art, architecture, wine and food for publications that include The New York Times, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest and Departures. "Everyone can tell that Annabelle Selldorf's buildings are elegant and rigorous," says Loos. "But she's also quite fun to hang out with. She has a sly sense of humor that you wouldn't necessarily expect." "I'm a sucker for great food and great art, so "Art and Appetite: American Painting, Culture and Cuisine," starting at the Art Institute of Chicago on November 12, is right up my alley. Luckily the museum has a delicious restaurant, Terza Piano, since this show may well engage the stomach as much as the eye." 26 CULTURED Cristina Lei Rodriguez was born in Miami, where she lives and works. Her sculptures have been exhibited nationally and internationally at museums and galleries such as the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, the Miami Art Museum, de la Cruz Collection Contemporary Art Space, Galerie Perrotin (Paris, Miami), Team Gallery and Brand New Gallery. Reviews of her work can be found in Modern Painters, The New York Times, Financial Times, Wallpaper, The New Yorker and Arte al Día International. Her work is also included in a new book, "Studio Life," just released by Princeton Architectural Press. "Seeing the Romanian pavilion, by Alexandra Pirici and Manuel Pelmus, from the Venice Biennale at the Bass Museum during Basel. Also Tracey Emin at MOCA!" Philip Michael Wolfson studied architecture at Cornell University and at the Architectural Association in London, where he was discovered by Zaha Hadid. After completing his studies, he spent the next 10 years as head of design in her studio. In 1991, Wolfson established his own studio and has worked throughout Europe and the U.S. on interiors and functional artworks shown at leading international art and design exhibitions, galleries and public venues. "I'm looking forward most to the world premiere of my Tsukumogami Rams at the Lamberty Gallery in London. After that, it's Frieze—the Art Basel of the London art calendar—and then Pavilion of Art & Design." Julie Baumgardner has long been involved in the culture sector. New York-born and based, Baumgardner is a freelance writer on art, music, style and design. Her work has appeared in Art+Auction, Details, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, Interview, Surface, Whitewall and V, among others. As a lifelong globetrotter, Baumgardner is always on the hunt for both the latest and the greatest in the arts. "While Balthus stayed under the public radar possibly because of his seemingly strange and suggestive canvases, the Met's retrospective "Cats and Girls" is a feast for any art history buff. With references as sweeping as Piero della Francesca, Emily Brontë and Morocco, Balthus' works are unfaltering modern, and their underlying subtly is an ever-shifting puzzle."
